Hypnotherapy in simply terms is:
The application of hypnosis in a therapeutic or self improvement context. Clinical Hypnotherapy is a modern psychotherapy, utilizing a completely natural state of mind, commonly known as 'trance'. Its practice and methodology incorporate a wide range of ideas and approaches, as practiced within the more traditional schools of psychology / psychotherapy.
There are two very different types of hypnotherapy that I use to help clients depending on their individual case. Sometimes I combine these approaches for optimum effect.
1. Suggestion Therapy
Also known as clinical hypnosis, this type of hypnotherapy uses a combination of hypnosis and positive hypnotic suggestion to treat so-called less complex conditions such as smoking cessation or exam nerves etc.
2. Analytical Hypnotherapy (Hypno-analysis)
Hypno-analysis is a special type of hypnotherapy, and is one of the BEST therapies in the world for treating emotional, anxiety and nervous disorders. This type of hypnotherapy includes discussing experiences together to eventually resolve the 'bottled up' emotions or anxious feelings that are the root cause of the problem or symptom.

About the therapy
A typical weekly session involves using hypnosis to help you relax and feel safe and comfortable and then we use the remainder of the session time available to talk through some of the experiences in your life. By slowly linking these experiences together (by talking about them) we go back to the 'bottled up' emotions that are causing the problem and when we get to these strong emotions we talk them through until they are fully resolved.
This isn't just 'counselling' or talking through 'any-old stuff'...every symptom caused by psychosomatic forces must have an originating cause, and hypno-analysis uses a very specific, gentle, non-directive process to allow you to fully resolve your anxiety/emotions.
Hypno-analysis involves a weekly session of about 50 minutes, and the course of therapy usually lasts 6-10 sessions.
